Hi there everyone!
Today is Al’s graduation from high school (Congrats Al!), and our final day before we head off on our honeymoon! We’re so excited! Before we go, I wanted to do a quick post about the wedding, and what we’ve been up to this week. We’re not going to get our professional photos for a few weeks, but in the mean time, check out facebook where lots of other people have been uploading photos, as well as Joel’s photos on Flickr. Joel also took the photos that we used on our save the dates. Here is one of his from the wedding that we love.
The night before the wedding we had an awesome Mexican Fiesta rehearsal dinner for 100 of our out of town guests at La Nueva Posada (Peter’s). We had the whole restaurant and there were a lot of margaritas! It was great to see everyone from out of town!! Most of our out of town guests were all staying at the courtyard marriott in pasadena, so the party continued back at the hotel late in to the night! Jacs and I however slipped away a little early so we’d be fresh! 🙂
The next morning, Jacs, mum, Bon and the bridesmaids (Al, Vik and Nix) had a breakfast at the beautiful Langham Hotel where Jacs was staying while I made sure everything was in order at the house before me, Keiren, TK, Bubba, Kev and Lou went out to a groom’s lunch at my choice – In’n’Out – not quite the same as the bride’s brunch location 🙂
It was then time to get ready back at the house in time for our ‘revealing’ where I got to see Jacs in the afternoon for some photos with our family and the bridal party before the ceremony.
Guests started arriving just after 4 for the ceremony, and we were lucky enough to have an absolutely beautiful afternoon after some drizzle in the morning! The house and garden were looking absolutely incredible, and the ceremony was unique and beautiful. Mum was the celebrant/officiant, and we had readings by Jacs’ grandpa Lou, as well as our friends Kim and Ashley and Sarah and Jason, and then a parental blessing from Bon. There were some tears of joy, but also some laughs – in particular to the line ‘making babies on the beach’ in the song as Jacs walked down the aisle (The wedding song by angus and julia stone).
After the ceremony we snuck off for photos with our families, before getting back for a few nibblies and a drink during cocktail hour – and then it was time for the reception party! Rory kept things running smoothly as our MC, the flowers looked gorgeous, the food was delicious, and the music had everyone up on the dancefloor all night. (if you’re interested in who the vendors were, see the end of the post)
We started off by doing our speech and first dance (to making memories of us by Keith Urban), and then had speeches during dinner from Keiren/TK/Nix and Bubba/Vik/Al, and then from both our dad’s – all the speeches were touching (and even got a few laughs 😉 ).
From that stage on, the open bar kept everyone dancing, and the dessert bar (with chocolate fountains) satisfied everyone’s sweet tooth – we did have a cake to cut, but that was just for us to eat 🙂 Everyone seemed to have an amazing time, and the party was still going strong as we left for our hotel close to midnight. Some of the highlights from the dancefloor were definitely Vik’s karaoke, and then Al getting up on a rock and rapping – everyone was amazed.
The morning after the wedding, Jim and Rita (family friends of the Fishers) hosted a BBQ brunch by the pool (Thanks again!) which we swung by before heading up to Santa Barbara where we had one night in a cute little hotel called Casas Las Brisas just the 2 of us, before we were joined by about 15 friends to show them where it all began! We all stayed at the Holiday Inn Express which was perfectly located, and put up with all of our partying. While we were there we had nights out on State St, as well as going back to the Bagel Cafe in Isla Vista (Jacs saw her old boss), wandering around UCSB, going wine tasting, bike riding, and relaxing by the beach! It was a wonderful couple of nights.
On Friday we finally said our good byes and headed down to Altadena. Mum, Dad and TK headed for the airport, while Keiren stayed for one final night before heading back to London.
So that about brings me to the end of our amazing wedding week – time for South America! We’ll put up photos as we go! Thanks so much one more time to everyone who celebrated with us, and for both our families for putting on the best wedding ever!!
Lots of love!
Ben and Jacs
